Cancellation Policy

  • For a full refund, you must cancel at least 31 days before the experience’s start time.
  • If you cancel less than 30 days before the experience’s start time, 50% of the total tour price will be refunded.
  • If you cancel less than 15 days before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
  • Any changes made less than 7 days before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
  • This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

What To Expect

Day 1: Arrival in Tirana and exploration, transfer to Berat

  • Morning Arrival and Tirana Exploration: Upon arrival at Tirana International Airport, you’ll be greeted by our friendly team, who will escort you to the heart of Albania’s capital. Our first stop is Skanderbeg Square, the central hub of Tirana, named after the national hero, Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg. As you wander through this iconic square, you’ll pass by some of the most significant landmarks in the city, including the National History Museum, which offers fascinating exhibits about Albania’s past, from ancient times to the modern era. Nearby, admire the Et’hem Bey Mosque, a symbol of Albania’s rich religious history, and the Clock Tower, a defining feature of Tirana’s skyline. This area will provide a great introduction to the history, culture, and architecture of the city.
  • Blloku District: Next, we’ll head to the Blloku District, once a restricted area only for Communist elites but now one of the most vibrant and modern parts of the city. The district is full of lively cafes, trendy boutiques, and colorful street art, showcasing the youthful energy of Tirana. This area has undergone a transformation since the fall of communism, and it’s now the perfect place to see the city’s dynamic and creative side. Take a leisurely stroll through its streets and absorb the atmosphere of this unique part of the city.
  • Lunch – Traditional Albanian Meal: After exploring Tirana, you’ll enjoy a traditional Albanian lunch at a local restaurant. Savor classic Albanian dishes such as byrek (a savory pastry), tavë kosi (a rich lamb dish with yogurt), and fërgese (a mixed dish with peppers, tomatoes, and cheese). The meal will offer an authentic taste of Albanian cuisine, prepared with locally sourced ingredients.
  • Afternoon Transfer to Berat: After a satisfying lunch, we will continue our journey and travel to Berat, located approximately 2 hours south of Tirana. This charming city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for its well-preserved Ottoman architecture and stunning river views. Often referred to as the “City of a Thousand Windows,” Berat’s iconic white houses climb up the hillsides, giving it a unique and picturesque appearance.
  • Visit Berat Castle: Upon arriving in Berat, we’ll visit the Berat Castle, which dominates the city from a hilltop. This ancient fortress dates back to the 4th century BC, and from its walls, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of the city, the Osum River, and the surrounding countryside. Inside the castle, you’ll explore several ancient Byzantine churches, Ottoman mosques, and even old residential buildings, all offering a glimpse into the city’s diverse cultural and religious history. The castle has been a stronghold throughout Albania’s history, and its walls are lined with fascinating stories.
  • Stroll Through the Mangalem and Gorica Quarters: After visiting the castle, we’ll head down to the Mangalem and Gorica quarters, two of the oldest neighborhoods in Berat. These areas are known for their traditional Ottoman houses with characteristic white facades and distinctive windows, which give Berat its famous nickname. Walk along the cobblestone streets, soaking in the charming atmosphere of these ancient districts, and marvel at the architecture, which perfectly captures the essence of Berat’s historical legacy.
  • Overnight in Berat: After a day filled with rich history and exploration, we will check in to our hotel in Berat. Spend the evening relaxing and enjoying the tranquil beauty of this UNESCO-listed city, before resting for the night in preparation for another exciting day ahead.

Day 2: Osumi canyons and Gjirokastër exploration

  • Morning Departure to Osumi Canyons: Start your day with a scenic journey to the Osumi Canyons, one of Albania’s most awe-inspiring natural wonders. Stretching over 26 km, these dramatic canyons are surrounded by towering cliffs, lush vegetation, and cascading waterfalls, creating a stunning landscape that’s perfect for adventure and exploration.
  • Activities at Osumi Canyons: Once at the canyons, immerse yourself in the breathtaking surroundings. You’ll have the opportunity to swim in the crystal-clear pools, explore hidden caves, and marvel at the unique rock formations that nature has sculpted over thousands of years. For the more adventurous, optional river trekking or canyoning activities are available, allowing you to experience the canyons from a more thrilling perspective.
  • Lunch by the Canyon: Enjoy a relaxing picnic-style lunch by the edge of the canyon, or choose to dine at a nearby traditional restaurant. The peaceful setting makes for the perfect break, where you can savor authentic Albanian flavors amidst the natural beauty of the area.
  • Afternoon Transfer to Gjirokastër: After lunch, we’ll continue our journey to Gjirokastër, the “Stone City,” which is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Gjirokastër’s unique Ottoman architecture and cobbled streets provide a fascinating glimpse into Albania’s past.
  • Visit Gjirokastër Castle: Upon arrival, we’ll visit the Gjirokastër Castle, perched high above the city. Walking around the castle grounds, you’ll also get to explore the ancient fortifications that have stood the test of time.
  • Explore the Ethnographic Museum: Next, we’ll head to the Ethnographic Museum, which is housed in the former home of Enver Hoxha, Albania’s former dictator.   • Stroll Through the Old Bazaar: Finish the afternoon by wandering through the Old Bazaar of Gjirokastër.
