  • Travel Insurance & Requirements: Travel insurance is not included but highly recommended. Participants should verify visa and entry requirements prior to booking.

Cancellation & Return Policy

  • Cancellations made more than 45 days prior to departure: full refund minus a 5% administrative fee.
  • Cancellations made between 30–44 days prior to departure: 50% of the total tour cost will be charged.
  • Cancellations made less than 30 days prior to departure: no refund.
  • No refund will be provided for unused services or voluntary withdrawal during the tour.
  • Any changes made less than 7 days before the experience start date may not be accepted.
  • Certain tours require a minimum number of participants. If this minimum is not met, clients will be offered an alternative date/experience or a full refund
  • If an experience is canceled due to unsafe weather conditions, clients will be offered an alternative date or an appropriate refund.

 

What To Expect

Day 1 – Arrival in Tirana & City Discovery

Please note: The activities planned for this day will take place depending on your arrival time at Tirana International Airport Nënë Tereza. If your flight arrives earlier in the day, you will have more time to explore the city. For later arrivals, the program will be adjusted accordingly.

  • Arrival at Tirana International Airport
    Welcome to Albania! Upon arrival at Tirana International Airport Nënë Tereza, you will be greeted by our company representative in the arrivals hall, holding a sign with your name. After a warm welcome, you will be transferred by private vehicle to your hotel in Tirana.
  • Hotel check-in & time to rest
    Upon arrival at the hotel, check in and take some time to relax after your journey. This free time allows you to settle in, refresh, and prepare for the first experiences of the tour.
  • Afternoon: Tirana city introduction
    Later in the afternoon, meet your guide and fellow travelers to begin an easy introductory exploration of Albania’s vibrant capital, Tirana. This relaxed walk offers a first glimpse into the city’s fascinating mix of history, culture, and colorful architecture.
  • During the visit you will discover some of Tirana’s most iconic landmarks:
  • Skanderbeg Square – the heart of the city, surrounded by important cultural institutions and named after Albania’s national hero.
    Et’hem Bey Mosque – a beautiful 18th-century mosque famous for its detailed frescoes and historical importance.
    Tirana Pyramid – one of the most recognizable monuments in the city, representing an interesting chapter of Albania’s modern history.
  • (Optional) – Cable car ride to Dajti Mountain
    Ascend by cable car to Dajti Mountain, located within Dajti National Park. From the summit, enjoy panoramic views over Tirana and the surrounding countryside. Breathe in the fresh mountain air and take time to relax or enjoy a coffee with a view.
  • Evening: Welcome dinner with the group
    In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner together with the rest of the group at a traditional local restaurant. This is the perfect opportunity to meet your fellow travelers and begin the journey together while tasting some of Albania’s most delicious traditional dishes.
  • You will have the chance to try a variety of Albanian specialties, prepared with fresh local ingredients, while your guide introduces the exciting experiences planned for the upcoming days.

Day 2 – Exploring Divjakë-Karavasta, Ardenica Monastery & Berat

  • Breakfast at the hotel and check out.
  • Morning departure toward the Adriatic coast
    After breakfast, departure toward the Adriatic coast to Divjakë-Karavasta National Park (90 km / 1h25).
    This protected wetland is one of the most important ecosystems in the Balkans. We walk through fragrant pine forests and sand dunes before reaching the Karavasta Lagoon, home to the rare Dalmatian pelican — the largest pelican species in the world.
    The lagoon is an important stopover for migratory birds, and the guide will explain the region’s biodiversity and conservation significance.
  • Visit to Ardenica Monastery
    We continue to the hilltop Ardenica Monastery, dating from the 13th century.
    According to tradition, Albania’s national hero Skanderbeg was married here. The monastery’s frescoes and peaceful setting provide insight into medieval Orthodox spirituality.
  • Arrival in Berat
    In the afternoon, arrival in Berat, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008.
    Known as the “City of a Thousand Windows,” Berat is famous for its white Ottoman houses stacked along the hillside.
  • Highlights include:
    • Berat Castle, still inhabited today
    • The Onufri Museum, showcasing masterpieces by the 16th-century icon painter Onufri
    • Ancient churches and panoramic views over the Osum Valley
  • Overnight in Berat. Dinner at leisure.

Day 3 – Gjirokastër, the Stone City

  • Scenic journey to southern Albania
    Departure toward southern Albania (approx. 180 km / 2h40) to Gjirokastër, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2005.
    Nicknamed the “City of Stone,” Gjirokastër is distinguished by its fortified tower houses (kullas), cobbled streets, and slate rooftops cascading down the hillside.
  • Exploration of Gjirokastër
    We explore the historic center and its most important landmarks.
    Highlights include:
  • The impressive Gjirokastër Fortress, offering sweeping views over the Drinos Valley
    • The traditional Skenduli House, an outstanding example of Ottoman domestic architecture
    • The Ethnographic Museum (birthplace of Enver Hoxha)
    • Sites related to writer Ismail Kadare, whose works describe life in this unique city
  • Evening atmosphere in the old town
    The atmosphere of Gjirokastër, especially at sunset, is magical.
  • Overnight in Gjirokastër.

Day 4 – From Labova e Kryqit to Butrint and Sarandë

  • Breakfast at the hotel and check out.
  • Visit to Labova e Kryqit
    Morning departure to the Byzantine church of Labova e Kryqit.
    This church is one of the most important early Christian monuments in Albania, dating back to the 6th century. Its stone architecture and remaining fresco fragments reflect strong Byzantine influence.
  • Exploration of Butrint National Park
    We then continue toward Butrint, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1992.
    Butrint is one of the Balkans’ greatest archaeological treasures, blending:
    • Greek theatre
    • Roman baths
    • Early Christian basilicas
    • Venetian fortifications
  • Surrounded by lagoon and forest, the site offers a rare combination of archaeology and nature.
  • Arrival in Sarandë
    Late afternoon arrival in Sarandë, facing the Greek island of Corfu.
  • Overnight in Sarandë.

Day 5 – From Gjipe Bay to Llogara National Park

  • Breakfast at the hotel and check out.
    The day begins with breakfast at the hotel followed by check-out. We prepare for a scenic drive toward the southern coast, leaving the historic city of Berat behind as we head toward the spectacular landscapes of the Albanian Riviera.
  • Journey along the Albanian Riviera
    Departure along the stunning Albanian Riviera to Gjipe Beach (approx. 70 km / 1h50).
    The road follows dramatic coastal scenery where mountains meet the turquoise waters of the Ionian Sea. Along the way, we pass picturesque villages and enjoy panoramic views of one of Albania’s most beautiful coastal regions.
  • Hike to Gjipe Bay
    From the parking area, we begin a short hike down to Gjipe Bay, a secluded beach located at the mouth of a striking canyon.
    Surrounded by white cliffs and crystal-clear turquoise waters, Gjipe is considered one of the most beautiful and unspoiled beaches in Albania. There will be time to enjoy the scenery, take photos, and relax by the sea.
  • Arrival in Llogara National Park
    We continue toward Llogara National Park, located high above the Ionian Sea. Covering nearly 1,000 hectares, the park is famous for its black pine forests and breathtaking views where the mountains dramatically overlook the coastline.
  • Hotel check in and overnight in Vlore.
    In the afternoon we arrive in Vlore, where the Adriatic and Ionian seas meet. After hotel check-in, the evening is free to enjoy the seaside atmosphere and local restaurants.

Day 6 – From Llogara Trails to Ancient Apollonia and Durrës

  • Breakfast at the hotel and check out.
    The day begins with breakfast at the hotel followed by check-out. We prepare for a morning in nature before continuing toward one of Albania’s most important archaeological sites.
  • Morning hike in Llogara
    We start the day with a scenic hike in Llogara National Park toward Llogara Pass, sometimes referred to as “Caesar’s Pass.” According to legend, Julius Caesar passed through this region while pursuing his rival Pompey during the Roman civil war.
    The trail offers fresh mountain air, dense pine forests, and spectacular views over the Ionian Sea far below. The area is known for its unique alpine landscape and peaceful natural setting.
  • Visit to Apollonia Archaeological Park
    We then travel to Apollonia Archaeological Park, founded in the 6th century BC by Greek colonists from Corinth. Later flourishing under Roman rule, Apollonia became an important cultural and intellectual center where the young Emperor Augustus is believed to have studied.
    Highlights include:
    The Bouleuterion, the ancient city council building
    The great stoa, once used as a gathering place for merchants and citizens
    The monastery and archaeological museum, displaying artifacts discovered on the site
  • Arrival in Durrës
    We continue toward Durrës, Albania’s main port city and one of the oldest cities on the Adriatic coast. Known for its long seaside promenade and rich history dating back to ancient times, the city has long served as an important gateway between the Balkans and the Mediterranean.
  • Hotel check in and Overnight in Durrës.
    After arrival and hotel check-in, the evening is free to relax, explore the waterfront area, or enjoy dinner in one of the city’s seaside restaurants.

Day 7 – Exploring Krujë and Vibrant Tirana

  • Breakfast at the hotel and check out.
    The day begins with breakfast at the hotel followed by check-out. We depart for one of Albania’s most historic towns, closely linked to the country’s national identity.
  • Visit to Krujë
    Morning transfer to Krujë, the historic stronghold of Albania’s national hero Skanderbeg, who led the resistance against the Ottoman Empire in the 15th century.
    We visit:
    Krujë Castle, offering panoramic views over the surrounding valleys and Adriatic plain
    The Skanderbeg Museum, dedicated to the life and legacy of Albania’s legendary leader
    The traditional Ottoman bazaar, a charming cobblestone market filled with handicrafts, souvenirs, and local products
  • Return to Tirana
    We return to Tirana for a comprehensive city tour of Albania’s lively capital. The city combines Ottoman, Italian, and communist-era influences with modern urban life.
    Highlights include:
    • The Catholic and Orthodox cathedrals, symbols of the country’s religious harmony
    Skanderbeg Square, the heart of the city surrounded by important landmarks
    • The vibrant Blloku district, once reserved for the communist elite and today one of Tirana’s most popular areas for cafés, shops, and nightlife
  • Final evening in the capital – Farewell dinner
    In the evening, we gather together for a special farewell dinner, celebrating the end of our journey through Albania. It will be an opportunity to enjoy traditional Albanian cuisine once more while sharing memories of the landscapes, history, and cultural experiences discovered during the tour.

Day 8 – Return

After breakfast, enjoy free time depending on your flight schedule. You may take a final stroll through Tirana, shop for souvenirs, or relax at a café.
At the appropriate time, a private transfer will take you to Tirana International Airport Nënë Tereza for your departure.
