Krujë is one of Albania’s most historic towns, set on a hillside beneath the imposing castle of Skanderbeg, the national hero. The city offers beautiful views over the surrounding landscape and a strong sense of Albania’s medieval heritage. Just below the castle lies the famous Old Bazaar, a charming cobblestone market dating back to the Ottoman era. Here visitors can browse traditional handicrafts, carpets, antiques, and local artisan products—making it the perfect place to experience authentic Albanian culture and craftsmanship.

• Visit Rozafa Castle and Museum (~1 hr).
Rozafa Castle rises above Shkodër on a rocky hill with sweeping views over the Buna, Drin, and Kiri rivers. Steeped in legend and history, the castle’s ruins, walls, and courtyards tell the story of Illyrian, Roman, and Ottoman times. Inside, the small but well-organized museum presents archaeological finds, historical objects, and explanations about the fortress and the city, helping visitors better understand the importance of Rozafa through the centuries.

• Collect bicycles and cycle from Shkodra to Shiroka, a lakeside village. Cycling is a traditional and very common activity in Shkodra—known as the “city of bicycles.” Locals of all ages use bikes daily, and the flat terrain makes it an enjoyable and authentic way to explore the area.

o Boat ride (opportunity to observe birdlife – the lake is known for pelicans and other migratory species).
o Kayaking.
• Lunch by the lakeside with the local specialty Tavë Krapi (traditional baked carp dish).
• Curiosity: Lake Shkodra is the largest lake in the Balkans, shared between Albania and Montenegro. It’s a protected natural oasis, home to over 280 bird species and famous for its clear waters, water lilies, and rich biodiversity.

• Guided hike (3.5 km, about 1 hr) to the Blue Eye of Theth—a stunning turquoise spring surrounded by lush greenery. The hike is moderate and offers incredible photo opportunities.
• Free time at the Blue Eye for photography, relaxation, or swimming (note: water is very cold in October).
• Hike back to Nderlysaj (1 hr).

• Visit Theth Church (1892) and the Lock-in Tower (Kulla e Ngujimit).

• We stay at the Shala River for about two hours before continuing another scenic boat trip across Lake Koman toward the “5 Stinet Resort,” where you can enjoy breathtaking views and a traditional Albanian lunch.

• Return boat transfer from “5 Stinet” to Koman.

• Return back to the meeting point, where we will board our transportation and continue our journey to Tirana.
